Nurse Gwenny recently set out to take her CEN. Along the way, she wrote a CEN practice book.
Mr. Nurse Gwenny was the first to order Nurse Gwenny’s latest book, a CEN test prep book like her first big hit “BUT WHY?”
Below is an honest review from Mr. Nurse Gwenny on Nurse Gwenny’s CEN test prep book.

While I have a vested interest in Nurse Gwenny’s success, I’m not much for hyping something up that isn’t good. That would be dishonest and not cool. (Speaking of cool, my Nurse Gwenny themed track suit is pretty cool!)
My review skills in the past have caught a mispelling a time or two. Most notably, in The ER Nurse’s Clinical Field Guide. The word “sandwhich,” should have been “sandwich.” Now, I’ll be the first to say that word was not critical to the success of communicating best practices when it comes to patient care; however, we want the products, books, and resources to be of high value!
I also purchased the first copy from our website! Mainly because I wanted to make sure the product was created correctly, but also because there can be only one #1 Fan!!!
So, what’s the title?

What is Nurse Gwenny’s CEN Book about?
It’s a CEN prep book. In layman’s terms, (and I proof read it), Nurse Gwenny’s CEN book has a ton of questions about various experiences an ER Nurse would have based on patient scenarios, protocols, and work life.
Some of the questions are gross. I don’t have much of a stomach for bodily fluids or discharges.
What did I like about it?
It provided me with a better understanding of the scope of experiences that Nurse Gwenny has when she’s on shift in the ER. It helps me to understand terminology so that I can listen better, follow along to stories, and possibly empathize with her as she debriefs about patients and work life.
What did I not like about it?
We’re in a season of raising a bunch of kids. And, we’re adults. Sometimes life is tough. Sometimes our language has some additional adjectives (cuss words) that may or may not be necessary. The first draft had some of those filler words and I politely asked Nurse Gwenny to pull a few out. I also believe, some well timed curse words are absolutely necessary and provide a bit of “comic relief” and received my endorsement to stay.
What did I love about it?
The rationales. Nurse Gwenny is incredible at explaining things in a way that makes sense. Yes, she’s my wife… But Nurse Gwenny is truly one of the funniest people I know. We often laugh so hard we have asthma attacks or some other bodily function occurs. If that’s not funny to you, maybe Nurse Gwenny’s style isn’t for you. But… the rationales are excellent. Some are funny. I’m confident that someone studying to pass the CEN would absolutely benefit from this book. I did and the only thing I’m workin’ toward is husband or dad of the year.
What’s the price of Nurse Gwenny’s CEN Book? (Is it worth it?)
Here’s what I know… I have met several followers in person and receive a lot of feedback about Nurse Gwenny’s "But WHY?” Many of those talk about landing their dream job as a flight nurse or flight paramedic in the critical care transport field through the help they received from that Nurse Gwenny resource.
I believe Nurse Gwenny’s CEN book will be no different. But, I believe it will help way more people since the number of ER Nurses is waaaaayyyyyy bigger than those in flight.
To spend $50, plus or minus, towards the next step in a career through the guidance of one of the best nursing educators while experiencing a little bit of humor seems like a reasonable investment of money and time.
What’s my hope for Nurse Gwenny’s CEN test prep book?
I hope Nurse Gwenny helps tens of thousands achieve their career goals.
I hope Nurse Gwenny spreads joy and laughter through her work.
I hope for some, the CEN test prep book is just the beginning, and some of the other resources Nurse Gwenny has created can be part of the next leg of the journey.
And… I hope I get to pack / ship these things AND hear positive feedback from some of you, some even in person, about your experience with Nurse Gwenny’s books or The Nurse Gwenny Library.
