About Nurse Gwenny

Gwenny Winkler is an EMS Educator who sprouted her roots in the ER and HEMS. She believes learning should be fun and lives for those aha! moments when her students come alive with curiosity and a hunger for growth.

Frequently called “intense,” for her fast-paced and loud persona, Gwenny's ability to slow it down to connect with patients and treat their humanity along with their pathology is her superpower.

When she’s not in the ED, a helicopter, or the classroom, she enjoys destroying her opponents at pickleball and cooking exorbitant amounts of food. Her husband and five children are the light of her life, but those kids exhaust her to no end. Gwenny is a connoisseur of Diet Coke (can, fountain, bottle) and her blood type is Torchy’s queso.

In 2026, she and her husband released an education platform, The Nurse Gwenny Library, with over 100 hours of fun and engaging continuing education designed for today’s learner.

About Mr. Nurse Gwenny

Josh Winkler, aka Mr. Nurse Gwenny, is far from being an EMS Educator. In fact, that statement would make him cringe and deflect to it being a duty only embraced through proxy!

Josh’s roles within the Nurse Gwenny Brand often occur behind the scenes. There, he is in his sweet spot. Leveraging his experiences from starting and running small businesses, helping to build teams, and thinking analytically; Josh seeks to make Nurse Gwenny’s burdens lighter… sparing her from administrative headaches and freeing her up to write, create, teach, and interact with clinicians through The Nurse Gwenny Library, her social media channels, or the incredible in person classes.

Unlike Gwenny, Josh is slooooow-paced, reserved, often described as pensive; yet, greatly enjoys connecting one to one during speaking or teaching events. He is known for his quick “one liners,” dropping a “dad joke” from the back of an In Person Flight Ready Class, hiding some silly edit in the online content, and overall playful interactions with Nurse Gwenny.

When he’s not helping behind the scenes, he can be found cycling, lifting weights, or calculating long range wind holds. Gwenny met her match at pickleball with this guy and while she’s know for being “high speed,” he doesn’t mind slowing down on the bike to make for some quality time. That, quality time, with those he loves, is his rocket fuel.

The Flight Ready In Person Class

Nurse Gwenny expands on her experience from the helicopter, ER, and as an educator to create her own CFRN & FP-C exam prep class.

The Flight Ready In Person Class is part of a holistic experience for critical care clinicians desiring to be the best in their craft.

It’s high speed, high energy, and high impact!

What People Are Saying

I am writing to wholeheartedly recommend Nurse Gwenny and her Critical Care Flight Ready course.

Recently, my department hosted Nurse Gwenny to teach this course to our team, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. As the leader of EMS operations in my department, I can confidently say that every paramedic who attended raved about the quality of the instruction and the significant knowledge they gained.

I have personally attended one of Nurse Gwenny's classes in the past, and her teaching played a pivotal role in my success—I would not have passed my FP-C exam without her review course. With years of hands-on experience in critical care and flight medicine, she excels at breaking down complex, challenging topics into clear, relatable, and understandable segments. Her passion for teaching is evident in every session, and she maintains the highest level of currency by regularly taking these rigorous certification exams herself to ensure her content remains cutting-edge and relevant for students.

Nurse Gwenny is an exceptional instructor who truly cares about her learners' success. I would not hesitate to bring her back, and I would not recommend anyone else to teach this critical material to my paramedics.
